Martyrs or Nimbys?

I say we’re expected to martyr ourselves, our mental health and our businesses for the big energy projects. While, in general, I am supportive of the need to get to net zero, energy needs to be produced locally wherever needed and the landscape of the highlands needs protecting as a world heritage area. There are so few wild places left in this world and this area needs protecting not industrialising. There should be a clear national strategy that defines the right space for wind farms, solar fields, etc. not just at a whim of land owners. Where transmission needs upgrades, this should be out to sea or underground by default. Brown areas should be utilised more. What we have is effectively a gold rush for the Highlands with sweet FA regard for the fragile economy of this area.
