As Sir David Attenborough states: “Scotland is a wonderfully fascinating place for wildlife and nature. It has, in my opinion, some of the most marvellous landscapes and wildlife spectacles you will find anywhere.”
Like countless residents of the Scottish Highlands, I passionately support the transition to green energy and its essential delivery to industrial and domestic consumers across the UK. Our wind-swept geography may seem an ideal setting for wind farms, but at what cost to our natural heritage and the tranquility of this landscape that draws in thousands of tourists every year? Within a short distance of Strath Brora lie two sprawling wind farms, with others within a 15-mile radius—and more are planned.
Now, the proposed pylons across Loch Brora threaten an area of breathtaking beauty, a sanctuary for eagles and diverse wildlife. There are alternatives, but profit and external influences seem to have dictated SSEN’s decision to target this irreplaceable landscape.
This is a price too high to pay.
